September’s meeting is quickly approaching. We will meet at the Newport Visual Arts Center’s second floor meeting room at 7pm on Wednesday, the 21st. The focus of the meeting will be to learn about a suite of land use planning tools we will consider as we move forward. This is a project wide meeting. All core groups will meet together, as we did last month. The first half of our upcoming meeting will be dedicated to learning background information about our state’s land use planning system and some specific tools that communities across the country have begun to implement and consider as they plan for climate change. The second half of the meeting will allow for small group discussion among core groups. Our speakers, Steve Schell and Courtney Johnson, will stay to discuss planning tools in more depth. Our hope is that this small group opportunity with experts will help inform the direction of the action plans for each of our core groups.
